After two years of dedicated and effective service to Sky Island Alliance, Jan Holder has resigned as the Executive Director, effective May 31st. Jan has underscored that this is a personal decision, intended to allow her to cut back on her work schedule, and spend more time with her family. The staff and Board of Directors are very sorry to be losing Jan, but supportive of her decision, and of course wish her the best of luck as she moves forward.
During her two years with the Sky Island Alliance, Jan has significantly strengthened the organization’s ability to protect and restore the wildlife and wild lands of the Sky Island region. Under her leadership, major improvements have been made to our management and financial systems to insure that there is a strong framework to support our conservation programs. She leaves a highly motivated, effective staff and a solid financial base on which we will continue to build for the future.
The Board of Directors will begin the search for a new Executive Director soon. During the transition period our leadership team of Louise Misztal (Conservation Director), Carianne Campbell (Restoration Director) and Maggie Trinkle (Operations Director), with the assistance of our Board, will continue our important conservation initiatives.
