Elena Vanasse Torres

Conservation Intern

I am a recent graduate of Arizona State University’s School of Life Sciences, where I studied Biology with an emphasis in Biology and Society. I sought out an internship with Sky Island Alliance because of my interest in trans-border conservation and landscape scale ecology. Previously, I’d worked a summer for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on a Latino outreach project that focused on bilingual environmental education and partnership building with the Mexican community in rural, southwest Idaho. I am originally from Carolina, Puerto Rico but grew up outside of Boston, MA. While I still love and am nostalgic about the rainforest and temperate environments, the desert has captivated me for life! In my free time I hike in the Rincons or Catalinas with my old little dog, Rosalina.
