Although I am most affiliated with our RESTORE Program, I provide logistical support and coordinate volunteers for field projects across several disciplines for Sky Island Alliance on both sides of the international border. My love of wildlife and the outdoors has led me to develop a career rooted in the protection and restoration of habitat and intact, interconnected ecosystems. From an early age I have enjoyed spending time outside hiking, fishing and camping with family – one benefit of growing up in wide-open North Dakota. After graduating with Honors from Minnesota State University – Moorhead with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Spanish as well as Anthropology (with a concentration in Archaeology), a stint as a wilderness instructor in Colorado got me hooked on natural resources. From there I cut my teeth as a park ranger for more than eight years, specializing in wildlife management and environmental education in suburban Denver, Saguaro National Park and Yosemite National Park. I’m certified as a Master Educator for Leave No Trace outdoor ethics, fluent in Spanish and enjoy backpacking, travel, cultural diversity and taking to the wild whenever possible.
