Camp Bullfrog 2013
May 3-5, May 31-June 2 and June 14-16
Ruby, AZ, Pajarito Mountains
After a very successful 2012 campaign in which we removed over 6,000 non-native bullfrogs from waters in the Pajarito Mountains, we’re returning to continue netting and hand captures of the species.  The bullfrog was introduced to AZ from the eastern U.S. over 100 years ago and has proliferated out of control, displacing many native species.  Biologist Dave Hall has been directly involved in the efforts since the late 90's and will be leading our crew in this scenic area; we hope you can join us too!

Where Black Bears and Jaguars Meet: Sky Island Carnivores
Thursday, May 9th, 6:30pm, Tucson REI, 160 W. Wetmore Rd.

The Sky Island region is home to predators such as black bears, bobcats, jaguars, mountain lions, ocelots, coyotes, and wolves. These often misunderstood animals will be the subject of Jessica Moreno's talk. Complemented with beautiful photos and videos from the region, this presentation will take a look at the natural history and behavior of these animals, how they interact together and with their environment, recent news and action you can take, and some of the myths and fears surrounding them. Riparian Restoration Project
May 10-12, 2013, Rancho El Aribabi, Sonora, Mexico

Here’s your best chance to check out a real Sky Island gem just 30 miles south of the border, a gorgeous conservation area where bobcat and mountain lion roam alongside ocelot and jaguar.  This is the third event in our Sonoran Riparian Restoration Project series focusing on improving wildlife habitat. We will once again be assisted by restoration expert Van Clothier from Stream Dynamics, Inc.

Native Frog Habitat Restoration
May 17-19, 2013, Huachuca Mountains

Escape the heat of the desert and discover Scotia Canyon, a lovely sycamore-lined creek with elevations ranging from 5,375 feet. From here, we will visit area tanks and ponds to net bullfrog tadpoles and metamorphs, making the habitat more hospitable for the native fauna. Scotia Canyon is renowned as one of the best places in Arizona to see the threatened Chiricahua leopard frog (Rana chiricahuensis) as well as the colorful Elegant Trogon (Trogon elegans).
